      Hello Sylvia,

We are very ok on Banda! The weather is perfect for island life. The beach cabins cost 40$ per person per night – FULL BOARD and the dormitory (as well as lazy camping) is 30$. Satyrday/Sunday is perfect, then we can offer you transport with Vincent departing Friday at 12:00 to Kasenyi and returning on Sunday for 80,000 UGX return.

Let me know when you want to make the booking, Easter is a very busy period.

      Greetings,

      Petra

    Dear Petra,

I would like to enquire if you have availability for a beach cabin on Friday 8th Feb 2013 x 3 nights for 2 people. My boyfriend and I will be staying in Kampala the night before so wonder which would be the easiest and most economical way to reaching Banda Island? Also, do the beach cabins have en-suite bathrooms?

I look forward to hearing from you,

    Many thanks,

    Clemmie

      Dear Clemmie,

Thank you for your interest in Banda Island!

On Friday the 8th both cabins are booked (one booking has to confirm). From the 9th onwards we definitely have one available again. I can offer you accommodation in one of our tents for the 8th, in case the second booking confirms today or tomorrow. The tents are fitted with mattresses and bedding. Check the pictures on the site.

We do not have on-suite accommodation yet. The toilet block is however close to the cabins.

On Friday you can come out with Vincent. He departs at midday from Kasenyi straight to Banda and charges 40,000 pp. He is an excellent coxswain and his boat comes with life jackets.

On Monday you have to return with public transport and we will help you get back on time.

      Have a great day,

      Petra

    Dear Petra,

I’m looking to spend some time on Banda Island, arriving on Tuesday 12th June for 3 nights. I’m happy to stay in either the dormitories or lazy camping, whichever is available.

What would be the easiest (and preferably cheapest) way to get to the Island from Kampala?

    Many thanks,

      Hello Bob,

For the cost of accommodation you are on the right page of our site: RATES. All eats are included in the shown rates, and also tea/coffee is complimentary. You only need to bring some money for cold drinks. The details of the transport costs you can find in the transport to Banda page. Ite depends on which transport option you choose, but in general it does not go above 40,000 per person per trip, except if you choose a special hire.

To get to Kasenyi from, let’s say Kampala, you take a matatu to Entebbe and get out at Abaita Abibiri. Cost a few thousand shilling.

Let me know if you have more questions and hope to see you soon on Banda!

      Greetings,

      Petra

    Hello Bob,

At 10pm we cannot transport you across the lake any more. We do not want ot be out there in the dark, even though the trip from Lutoboga/Mwena to Banda is only 45 minutes and goes between the islands.

Our rates are based on full board accommodation. There is no place you can get food or drinks on Banda (or you have to walk to the village on the other side of the island), so we only offer full board. If you do not need accommodation the rate for camping applies. We do make a camp fire every night and people do sleep on the beach,

    The prices for drinks:
    Beers 4000 UGX
    Sodas 2000 UGX
Wine 8000 UGX ( but let us know then we get some good quality wines)

    Greetings,

    Petra

Just want to know if lazy camping is available for us that weekend and what time the boat leaves on Friday from Kasenyi. Also, one person might have to leave on Saturday 2 August, does a boat leave from Banda to Kasenyi that day and what time?

I still have lazy camping available. Let me know how many tents you need, then I make the reservation.

Fri to sun you can use Vincent and on Saturday your friend can go with the – very early – kitobo boat or with tom in the afternoon. There are also other random boats passing by which we can flag down. Confirm with the staff on banda which option is best and available!

After lengthy consultations fuelled by some insight-increasing shots of waragi I would hereby like to make reservations for lazy camping for 4 persons from Friday 1 – Sunday 3 August. A 5th person might join but she will pitch her own tent.

Just to be sure (I missed the boat last time I went to Banda) what time does the boat leave on Friday 1 August from Kasenyi?

    Hi Petra,
My hubby and i are planning to get on the road to you from Masaka via Kampala on Sunday to stay till Wednesday (leaving on Wed). I have the following questions because i am totally at a loss of what to expect and how to get there…all i know is that we want to spend some days there :).
    1. From the correspondence above i have gathered information on how to get to Abayita ababiri….Now how do we get from there to the Boat? and when in Banda how do we get to your accommodations? Please include the boat times.
    2. Do you have a cabin free for the time 7th-10th (3nights)?
    3. Did i get that right that the 120K is per person/night and not per Cabin/night?
    Thanks

      Hello Carolyn,

There are two options to get to Banda: trough Kasenyi landing site (which is off Abaita) and in your case you could also come via Masaka and the main island Bugala. So you do not need to go to Kampala and Entebbe. Vincent can pick you from Mwena for 130,000 UGX. Then from Banda you could get back to Kasenyi landing site. Let me know! Both options are rather hassle free. If you choose to depart from Kasenyi call Jonathan, he is a porter there ,very helpful young man, and will ‘stick’ you on the right boat. his number is 0779690905. On Sunday you can only take the public via Kitobo departing at 1:30. Let mem know if you take this boat then i can organise pick up from Kitobo (cost is 30,000).

We have a cabin free those days and it is indeed 120,000 per person, including Full board and coffee tea.

      Greetings!

After some discussion we just came up with an alternative idea.
Not knowing where we are heading to we think it’d be easier to travel with Vincent..which means….coming to Banda on Monday 8th and leaving on Thursday 11th…so it is still 3nights…
    1. Do you have a beach cabin free for the time?
    2. Would you organize the appointment with Vincent for us and send me his number as well?

    1. I asked abt the 120000, is it per cabin or per person each night? because we will be sharing a cabin..Either way it doesn’t matter i just wanna understand it correctly.
    2. Could you please send me Jonathan’s number as well?
    3. How do we get to the landing after we leave the matatu at Abaita ababiri? or are we to call Jonathan from here as soon as we get off the Matatu?

      Dear Svenja,

Yes, we have space for you! The cabins are booked from Friday onwards, but we have the safari tent (till Saturday) and lazy camping available. The best way to get to Banda is to get a boat from Kasenyi Landing site, just before Entebbe. There are different boats every day, so let me know what day you would like to come and I check which boat is best.

Hi Petra. Great, I think “lazy camping” is perfect for me. Do the same rates apply when you are alone?
My plans changes slightly. I will most probably be back to Kampala from another trip on Wednesday. So I could depart from Kampala Thursday morning. I don’t know how long it could take me (with traffic) to get to the Kasenyi Landing site? Is it near Entebbe road or how do I get there (with public transport)? I guess in case, a boda could bring me the last mile?
Then I would stay until Saturday or Sunday… Will that work?

    Hi Svenja,

Our rates are per person, so if you sleep alone in a tent you don’t pay more. When I was traveling alone I was always offended by having to pay relatively much more than couples.

Kasenyi is like 15 minutes away from the main road. You can indeed best take a Boda Boda. There are matatus which go to Kasenyi as well, but if you take an Entebbe bound one and hop off at Abaita it is just as fast.

Please stay till Sunday. We are having an event scheduled, so there will be some other interesting guests. If you want to enter in the survival Challenge you pay 80,000 and i can give you 10% discount on the Friday night.

Because we are expecting quite a crowd can you make a depopsit to secure your tent? 200,000 UGX should do. If possible send it by mobile money to 0772 222 777.

    Greetings!

I can make that deposit later in the day. That shouldn’t be a challenge.

Great that you per person rates are the same when you come alone. Indeed, I had originally planned to come with my boyfriend, until we broke up. So that’s a good treat!

Last but not least, which boat should I take on Thursday to get to banda? I can depart Kampala at say 9am. When do the boats leave, do they go to Banda straight, and how much is it?

Oh one more: for food: I am allergic to peppers: bell peppers as well as chilli peppers, all sorts of peppers…

    Many thanks.

    Hi Svenja,

Great we see you on Friday/Saturday when we all come in for the Survival Challenge. Maybe we can have a ladies team – so we do not stress ourselves (and thus do survive!) out and forfeit the idea of winning the cup. 🙂

Please talk to Brenda when arriving about your allergy. We usually do not use much peppers, but we need to make sure!

On Thursday there is a 10:00 am boat (JonJon) but if you miss that there is another one going at 1:20/2:00. Both boats take you to our beach for around 25,000. Ask Jonathan to put you on the ‘New Kitobo’ boat. His number is on the site, helpful guy. Back on Sunday is with Vincent in the ‘luxury’ boat – 40,000.
